Vineyard dog

Teke, the vineyard dog, already on the trail of rogue deer of the future.  Our trellis is to start construction in a couple of days, should take most of the week to install.  I decided not to go with an irrigation system as the rainfall here should be adequate, and during dry spells, I can handwater with a water truck.  Much more economical.

Meanwhile, spring is slowly stretching our way, with the first tulips of HU cheerfully greeting all visitors.

Happy spring!

Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Muscadine

Woo hoo!

Planted over 2000 vines today, spaced three feet apart, eight feet between rows.

I even planted a row of Sauv Blanc myself.

Of course, with more than a little help from the Schmidt Vineyard Management Company team (thanks Hans and crew).

The weather couldn't have been better.

Next week, the trellis goes up.
